EnCompass Learning Specialists work with the learner, schools, families, and other agencies until a Learning Plan is effectively implemented. This means making sure that everyone understands the learner’s needs, and is helping to implement the strategies to support the learner at school and at home. If one set of strategies is not producing results, the Learning Specialist adjusts them until the learner is making progress toward their goals.
As part of the Learning Plan, EnCompass may suggest tutoring or coaching services. EnCompass’ tutoring services focus both on strategies aimed at helping students become independent learners, as well as specific academic subjects. All tutoring services follow the model established by The Norman Howard School, a well respected independent school for students with learning disabilities.
Coaching is the ideal tool for students who are working to increase their independence or for parents who wish to develop new tools for supporting their children. EnCompass Learning Specialists help students and families identify and develop specific skills to support learning. Coaching is particularly effective in helping students to develop skills in planning, organization, time management, self-advocacy and accountability.
