Academic Support and Tutoring

EnCompass provides the academic and beyond the classroom support students need to achieve. Teachers, targeted reading intervention, inquiry-based curriculum, and hands-on enrichments foster and accelerate academic achievement.

  • Certified teachers provide data driven, small-group reading intervention services to students in grades K-6.

  • EnCompass’ academically-based elementary programs use learning as a platform for social development and personal growth. STEM hands-on learning, clubs, literacy support, and tutoring combine in a safe, supportive setting. Programs are staffed by certified teachers and target and measure both academic and social skill development.

    Summer Learning programs create enriching experiences, community connections, and prevent achievement gaps caused by summer learning loss. Summer learners are engaged with exciting themes which provide channels for students to delve deep into learning.

Certified teachers and experienced tutors provide personalized support, 4 days per week for students from every school and neighborhood in Rochester.

Wraparound Navigation

EnCompass Navigation tackles barriers, personalizes support, and connects children, teens, and families with beyond-the-classroom resources they need to be successful in school and in life. Individualized mentorship and support to reach self-identified goals, facilitated connection to community resources eliminates barriers and creates access, and personalized support to build family-school relationships enhance academic progress and sustained stability.

  • Parents lead the way in this free and voluntary program designed to each child’s success at home, in the community, and at school. Every member of the household works one-on-one with Navigators build skills, reach self-identified goals, connect to community resources and overcome challenges. Family Navigation offers a variety of whole-family activities and events.

  • Middle school and high school students work 1:1 with Youth Navigators to plan the futures of their choice. Navigators are mentors and guides who meet with students regularly to:

    • Develop & Implement Personal College & Career Plans

    • Identify & Assess Academic Needs

    • Coordinate Wraparound Services and Hands-On Career Exposures

    • Arrange Work-Readiness Training and Job Placement

College & Career Readiness

High school graduation is just the starting gate! EnCompass is Rochester’s premier college and career readiness provider for students grades 6-12. Year-round employment education, college visits and workplace tours, opportunities to explore college and career pathways, and personalized post-secondary planning prepares students to make well-informed decisions about life after high school.

  • EnCompass convenes The Hive, with youth serving partners Boys and Girls Club, Black Men Achieve, The Center for Teen Empowerment, and Hope585 to deliver Rochester & Monroe County’s no walls, no wrong doors model for youth workforce development. A year-round calendar of workforce development activities, across 10 in-demand career pathways, prepares thousands of youth to become the employers, professionals, and leaders of tomorrow.
